Thanks for listening.mom2carloMy son screams at us ALL the time. Sorry new to forum. I have an 8 yr old that was diagnosed with PDD recently. With him it seems to be getting a lot worse as time goes on. It used to be he would only scream on occasion but now its a daily thing.. And sometimes an hourly thing... welcome She81495, thanks for the reply. sometimes i feel like i need to wear ear plugs all day. well i hope you find that you like it here. it's a wonderful place, with wonderful people.take care.i have Carlo pdd-nos dx in feb and he's 5.mom2carloWe get the screaming. Not all day long, usually only in the
middle of the night, but we definitely get it. Screaming sessions
can last up to an hour, they start for no reason that we can identify
and there's absolutely nothing we can do to stop them. So
loud.
WELL IM GLAD MINE SLOWED DOWN...UT ITS STILL...MOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...MOM...MOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM MMMMMMMMMMMM..MOMMMY...RRRRRRRRRRRRR..AND YAND THEN IT GETS LOUDER N LOUDER ITS AS IF U JUMP RIGHT OUT OF YOUR SKIN.IM THERE WITH YA,,MOMTO CARLO..HOWS HIS HEARING? OR IT CAN DEFINITLY HAVE TO DO WITH A REACTION TO HIS HYPERSENSITIVITY FOR SENSORY INTEGRATION.ALL KIDS DO IT,BUT ITS 100x WORSE ON US B/C THEY FORGET TO STOP..CYNDIE My son used to be a big screamer. Once he got his speech, it really died down. I think he was trying to get his point across and getting frustrated because I didn't know what was wrong, or what he wanted. He still does it, but I think it is more of a 4 y/o not getting his way, lol. Thanks to all of you,I"ve not had his hearing check formly only at headstart and they said he passed but he wouldn't sit still for them, so ? that. it's not like he screams all day long, just a short loud scream at everything. He's very verbal, so who knows. i've put in a call to his physc doc, he handles all the meds, so i'll wait to hear from him. thanks again.mom2carlo
My son was a screamer. It began early in the dx land. Its main function for him was that he didn't have the language to get anything. It got better and worse depending on how he was doing overall. And that was correlated with language. As he gained more mastery over his skills and his self regulation I would tell him to use his words. If he couldn't use his roon he could go scream in his room but I didn't want to or have to listen to it. Then I'd check in and find out if was ready to have me help him and he to stop screaming. I just kept lowering the tolerance bar and his skills increased. What it really taught him was the ability to get a grip and use his words. So then for a couple of years all I had to do was to was to say "use your words" and he'd get it together. And then it's just not an issue for the last couple of years. I HATE screaming. It makes me want to jump out of my skin!!
good luck,
pat
Mom2carlo,
Adam can be a screamer...especially when we are reprimanding him. He has started this thing now where he points at us while screaming at us and he will say..."time out mommy" etc. Or to daddy if that is who he is mad at. LOL This morning though we ran out of his favorite cereal and so he had to eat french toast which I KNOW HE LOVES....but because it was different and hadn't had it in a while....we had another screaming session this morning over that one. With Adam I have to ignore it or it will just escalate and last longer. There are also times where he will seem to be screaming for no apparent reason too. Still haven't figured that one out yet.

My 8 yr old screams almost every day too i now just calmly ask him if he's hurting where does it hurt ect... then i leave him alone he is non verbal so he doesn't reply but maby he knows what i'm asking him !!!He sings alot now of course it's his singing which is screaming along with the songbtw, when he does scream, he also will tell me i have a stinking attitude or were all stinkers.lol. thanks again for all your responses. and karrie how r u and addison doing? great i hope.mom2carloI don't think this is what everyone is referring to, but every now and then (preciously infrequent, thank goodness) Luke will let out a shrill, high-pitched shout for no apparent reason ... except he's got a big smile on his face when he does it and will often be looking at us. We try to ignore it, so as not to egg him on!hi all,
my ds (3.5) is starting to scream more often each day now and i'm worried as tto where it is going hopefully not worse cause before he didn,t scream at all.now he would just burst out for what seem like no reason but it is so sudden it jumps the baby who is offten asleep at the time.i dont know what to make of it but i sure am thankful he does not do it for any length of time straight. he seem fustrated about something and i usually get no responses as to why so it is impossible to help him i just try to hang on till he stops. often i want to sream!!!
