My neighbor's NT son took to peeing in a decorative container that sat on the back of the toilet. I assume he did it because he could. Once his mom figured out what he was up to, she got rid of the container and the behavior stopped.
Could your son be so busy playing that he ignores his urge to pee until it's too late to go to the bathroom, so he uses what's handy?
Good luck!
I like what WiMom said about him being so engaged in his play that he just uses that because it's the closest thing. Does make sense, I think that's why little boys try the whole peeing outside thing at some point in their lives...he's just doing it in his room maybe??
Not sure how to stop this though...although maybe removing the toybox to see if he stops or just starts using something else...it might help you figure out if the above is the reason for him going...if he stops, it's something with the toybox that he feels he needs to do this, if he doesn't he doesn't want to stop what he's doing, leave his room and go.
Good luck!! Tough thing to figure out.
that is probably what it is. he gets so focused on what he is doing most of the time that he probably is just waiting until the last second. last time his toy box was totally full so we had to clean all the toys and the toy box. it was gross ... i hope that now we caught him he wont do it anymorenoah was dx with asd a few months back.. a few weeks ago I noticed his room smelled like urine.. it took me a bit but I found pee in the toy box in the kids room. I asked and he said he didnt do it. I figured his little brother did because we are potty training..
well it happened again a week later.. same response. finally last weekend my husband caught noah peeing in his toy box. I just wasnt sure if this is related to the asd or if this is just a normal behavior from a 5 year old? i just dont understand why he would do that
