Bev,
I'm sorry to hear that you're having so much difficulty with your son right now. Hope that you're able to get respite care so that you can have some "me" time. Try to take advantage of the time he's in school so that you're not worn down when he gets home.
Please feel free to come here and vent. We've all walked in your shoes so we completely undrstand.
Kim
Hi Bev,
Welcome to the board. I'm sorry that things have not been going well. I agree that me time is very important. Is it possible for you to contact any ASD support groups in your area? perhaps they have names of people to contact that may be able to get you the help that you need. I know my area ASD group not only have mothers brunches, planned activities and mothers nights out. prehaps you could hook up with other parents and start a baby sitting co- op. Best of luck and welcome again
Hi Everyone
My name is Bev, I have an 8 yr old son with Aspergers although am trying to get hyperactivity and odd added. He needs 24/7 care and his continual noises shouting and eccentricity(to put it nicely) are very hard to life with.
I wish I could be as positive as some other mothers but I was diagnosed with a severe illness when he was born and it weakend me. I am now 41 and his dad 46 and we are tired all the time.
He is not on medication, they wont give him any and we dont get respite from anywhere including family or friends, they all avoid offering help because of how difficult he is.
Trying to address his diet and possible respite support at the moment and going back to his physciatrist requesting medication. Speak to you all soon I hope Bev Hi Bev--Welcome! This place is an awesome, safe place to learn and teach others and sometimes just fall apart. Glad you're here. I have a 10 yr old HFA son who isn't doing well all of a sudden after 3 months of doing great! Welcome to the group rollercoaster! pat Hi Bev Welcome to the board. Its been a wonderful supportive place for so many of us here. Its such a relief to know we aren't alone and to have our thoughts and feelings validated and to share ideas and advice with others who have been there and UNDERSTAND! I'm sorry things aren't going well for you right now. I don't want to pry about your illness but possibly there might be help for you if you can't get the help for your child. (?) I would also look into finding a new child psyc that has ASD experience. My son's old classmate has Aspergers and is on several meds although I dont know the names. I don't know much about services in the UK but I am posting a few links I hope may be helpful and lead you to something supportive. And of course you have the board now too!

Welcome to the board. I hope that you get a Psychiatrist soon that can
help you. I know that there are some wonderful support groups in the UK
and your Autism Society should allow you to join. Aspergers is in the
spectrum and they may also have respite available.
www.nas.org.uk also has on it's website that it covers Asperger as
well. They also have a 0845 helpline you could call. They may be able
to give you the name of a Psychiatrist in the area who has expertise in
the field.
Good luck.
