Hello all.......
Have not posted in awhile, due to being quite busy. Well i brought my daughter to childrens phsychatrist as the peditrician advised me to. The last doc we went to was a neuro-phys and he suggested medication for adhd. I brought the report to the new physh, he evaluated her. He says that her communication and understanding seems to be there. I asked if she was on autism spectrrum. He answered I really cannot say for sure. He advised to have the her pedi send vanderbilt questionairs to her teachers and if they think she has trouble focusing then meds would be an option.
Iam not sure if this is good news or not. I just dont know exactly what my daughter has. Her teacher said she thinks PDD. Well isnt that pervasive developmental delay? Which is on the autism spectrum with no diagnosis? This gets so confusing!
Well Iam done with the docs. I will just keep working with her and advising her IEP's as the years go by. I just thought I would get some answers. Thats okay because I love my little girl and it does not matter what her issues are..............we all have them-LOL
Thanks everyone and you all Have a great day!

Hi daniel's Mom
So they are the same? Why dont the dosc just answer me when I ask if she is asd? I dont get it? I dont know if that could make a huge difference in her IEP plan or not.
thanks- this get fustrating sometime, I would just like someone who can tell it like it is.
thanks again
pdd and pdd nos are still asd. tanglewood, truthfully, you wouldn't know any more with a spectrum diagnosis than without. Clearly there're some defecits and those are being addressed, but all a diagnosis of autism really seems to mean is that, "your kid has some defecits that fall into these three areas, and we don't know why". Kind of like where you are right now. It may be for the best, having no medical dx - if you're using insurance to cover any private therapies. It sounds like she's getting educational therapy and medical help for her known metabolic disorder, so I'm not sure what value having an offician dx of an ASD would do - unless you need one for the school system (the school systems usually have their own educational labels that are seperate from medical diagnosis, though).
Thanks Fred, that makes sense! She is doing much better. She is certainly progressing forward. She does go to a therapist every other week due to some terrible stuff her Dad did to her-my ex-husband. She was also sexually abused on top of all the aspects. I was very thankful she came to me at 6 yrs old and told me. Unfortunatley he was never charged and denied it. Iam still in the process of extending a restraining order on behalf for her and stripping parental rights! That will be next month in court with her therapist and my 2 lawyers!
Thanks again Fred for the advice.
