Hi!
I sure hope your child feels better! I, myself, don't like the dentist! We have, yet, to take AJ to a dentist. A hair cut is bad enough! Are there dentists out there that are accustomed to "dealing" with autistic children? Also, be SURE to let them KNOW if he is on ANY type of meds!
Jack has toothache!!
its bank holiday weekend here which mean our dentist is shut the tooth is going bad and he has been complaining and showing me his mouth all day so it must be really really hurting him.our dentist is fab(he has a autistic son himself)jack has a big fear of dentists thanks to the horrible man we first took him to our dentist has worked really hard with him,he switches off the machines he knows jack doesn't like and has them ready to show him they are "broken"so i really don't know what to do,do i call the emergancy dentist and risk going back to square one with the whole thing or keep giving him pain med and wait till tuesday?i think it needs to come out which they won't do there and then anyway he will need to be admited to hospital for a general to have it out(really looking forward to that) but he is in pain(guess this could explain why he has started biting again)i don't want him to be hurting but i'm scared if he has a bad experiance again i'll never get him over the door
any ideas really appreciated
Dee
I would give him the pain meds because as you say if it has to come out that will be in hospital under general and they won't schedule that until after the weekend.thanks for the quick response
its kind of what i'm thinking i just needed to hear someone else say it too if that makes sense i'm feeling really guilty because i think he has been in pain for awhile and has only today been able to communicate whats wrong (the biting started almost three weeks ago)we had a really bad night last night and was complaining this morning that i was tired(dh works nights so can't help when he is up) and then the poor little boy tells me that his mouth hurts so i'm on a major guilt trip at the minute
but thatnks for that we will continue with pain med and phone dentist first thing tuesday if he gets worse i will try the emergancy dentist to see if they can get hold of jacks dentist
thanks again
Dee
