We switched to Soy Milk 2 weeks ago and my son's behavior is at an all time low. He tantrumed at school for the first time ever yesterday. This is a boy that usually skips in and I had to drag him across the parking lot and down the hall to class. He has be beyond whiney, moody, crying, at home. Just a nightmare, I am at my wits end. He also use to wind down fairly quickly to goto sleep at night and now is in bed for at least 2 hours awake, before falling asleep! The soy is the only change I have made and can tie it back too. What is going on? I stopped it today.
Then, I got the Fish Oil Supplement from Cornmega today and gave it to him. He promptly threw it up 1/2 hour later. I was shocked. I don't know what to do now. It was just a sample and I don't know wether to forget it or try another brand or what.
Any help or suggestions here. Some people can be very sensitive to Soy products. I myself cannot drink soy milk because it upsets my stomache for three days. My son was put on soy formula at 5 months old and he didn't stop vomiting until we took him off it. My advice is if you are cutting out dairy then to try rice milk. You can buy it in vanilla and chocolate flavors. for the fish oil, try giving your son something to eat with it. It might prevent him from getting sick. Another idea is that his throwing up could be caused by his reaction to the Soy. I would take him off the soy, wait a few days then try the fish oil again. I hope this helps. You have a great point on the fish oil. He had had only a slice of green pepper to eat and his stomach was near empty. Thank you for your help and especially for pointing that out.I ditto the sensitivity to soy. Something else to remember when doing the diet is that the kids may go through 'withdrawls' because the protiens in their morphine state are exiting the body.
