Outside he looks fine...

Two ears, two eyes and a nose,

And his ten pretty toes.

Ten fingers and nails,

But in pointing...he fails.

And if you look closely, you’ll see,

That he’s not looking at me.

Blank stares go right through,

As I’m looking at you.

 And alone he will play,

Day after day...after day.

The few words he’ll utter

Make no sense to his mother.

 As reality sets in,

My heart’s breaking within.

“Autism spectrum disorder”

A “label” – like any other.

 But what does it mean,

When my foe is unseen?

They just don’t understand,

Across this great land.

 Normal foods act as dope,

As more parents lose hope.

And doctors aren’t shown,

How leaky gut’s grown.

 Oh, how can it be,

That all fail to see?

What’s wrong with my child-

What makes him so wild!

Some say: “Give him a pill,

And he’ll sit nice and still...”

But, what good would it do?

I’d forever lose you!

 Yes -  I understand!

And I’ll take your hand.

You’ll leave your shell,

And, again, you’ll be well.

 Your battle – I’ll fight

With all my might!

And I’ll make them see,

For you’re precious to me!

This child of mine...

Outside he looks fine...
