Hey folks. I just emailed this lady (she is local to me) to learn more about her program. My son, although many issues have improved, still has major sensory issues. I get the impression that this program makes people understand and step in the shoes of one with sensory issues. Although we are working on combating the issues themselves, I would love to walk a mile in Liam's shoes (in fact I would take away all his burdens if I could). So....if anyone is interested, her email address is on here. I can update you when I receive the materials. http://www.abc27.com/news/stories/1007/463746.html
Hi I am interested. I have requested JUstin be assessed for SID..he received almost seven years of SI therapy many years ago. What I have discovered ios that these sensory issues have come back full on in these god frosaken teen years. I would even go as far to say that he is even more sensitive ib all areas, but mainly hearing. Any info I can get would be helpful....Please keep me posted. THANKS I think this would be a wonderful program for schools. It is one thing to tell children why a classmate may have certain sensory difficulties. It's another thing to actually experience it yourself. I second what WIMom said...let me know how it is, I'm always looking at materials to use in my future classroom/with my future kiddos. :) Don't bother I tryed emailing staff about Sid they never got it at all. Now it's known as SPD. There is a cite with area for kids and a adult area also. Can't remember the link though. Ld online also explains it well with helpful ideas.Hey folks. I did receive an email reply from this lady. She indicated that she would be presenting this program in our area in the next 2-3 weeks. I will go to the presentation and report back to those who have expressed interest. BTW...Hi VCuddy. I have not seen you in a while. Hope all is well.
Sam's para did a Autism awareness workshop with the whole school, mostly focussing on the sensory issues. She set up stations where the kids could experience a different sensory imput. she based it on the info at this site: http://teacch.com/understandingfriends.html The focus was everybody is different and we all have special needs. The kids were really interested, and I think it's made a huge difference to their level of acceptance of Sam mama to Sam 8yrs PDD NOS OCD ODD PPD and Alex 2 yrs That's a fantastic site maisa. Thanks for the link! I'm forwarding it to our school. |
