I didn't think this was a topic that would stir up so many emotions
My 3 yo on the other hand really enjoys food, every meal and every food i give him. He is so full of energy sometimes and seems extra hyper after eating just about everything. Oh and has more gas than anyone i've ever seen, even grown men.
My questions for all of you who have your children on diets are, What made you decide to try a diet, did you have your children tested before diet and get docs approval.
Is anyone using the Feingold diet??? and what changes do you notice if any?
And How do you know when your child is allergic to a certain food such as eggs or other considering children usually consume a wide variety of "things" including those things found in packaged foods.???
Thanks
Carol
I'm doing GF/CF. I decided to do this because my son had diarhea~ 5 to 6 diapers a day. I believe the leaky gut theory.
Since doing this 2 weeks ago, we've done the withdrawals~ horrible
But, my son has started making eye contact, down to 2 diarhea's a day. He looked me in the face and told me "no,no" yesterday during his bath when I asked if he wanted out. He doesn't speak.Today he was hugging me and looking me right in the face.
I've noticed improvement and it has cemented my feelings on keeping him on this diet. Oh and we stopped apples because of the phenols, stoped msg, aspertaine too
daniel's dad/ uncle had bad allergies as kids is why I had him tested. No corn products Daniel isn't hyper. My boys have similar eating patterns to your kids...one has yeast (pale, doesn't like the same thing every day, picky, quiet) and the other one has bacteria/clostridia (lots of gas and eats everything, hyper and aggressive)...I put them a variety of diets over a 6 mo period...we started with GFCF/Low Oxalate, 2 mo later Feingold...over time, we discovered that they are allergic to gluten, casein, eggs, corn and the 4 yr old is grain-free (no rice)...the yeast died when we went grain-free...I would suggest that you look into some testing for them....Great Plains Lab has an Organic Acid Test that can detect oxalates, yeast or bacteria and some other markers...we did a gluten/casein peptide test too...my 4 yr old is casein sensitive and my 10 yr old is gluten sensitive!!!
