I am with Alice...Put it in writing! Documentation is one of your most powerful tools.
Consider cc'ing your letter to every doctor and therapist in addition to the MEDICAL BOARD who oversees this physician's license. That ought to get his attention!
PS I am a family doc, and I find this kind of attitude by others in my profession disgraceful!
Good luck!
Thank you all for that I will write a letter tonight and get it out tomm.and i found out today that he has other parents that have complained about him.So i hope this works, and that farai can get all the help that he and we as a family need.thank you all again and will keep you all posted on what happens
Hello All I know its been awhile since i have been on, But things here have been crazy.Well Farai had his testing and the DR/Idiot who did it said he is N/T.Which I and his other dr's and the people who work with him dont believe.First he was never in the room with him well the test was being done.(even though he told us he was going to be). Then half the people that were there have never meet farai before but the DR said they all know him and have seen him out side the center..Well after all that i tell them i want a 2 dr to do the testing. Then we go and see farai's DR and he says that he is backing us up 100% and that he wants a 2 dr to test him to and then he tells me that the dr who tested farai is wrong any where from 20-30% of the time, and that 5 other familys have go to sunnyhill hospital which is one of the best places in bc canada to go to.I have a meeting at the end of the month to talk to the DR who tested farai. So he can tells why in more depth why he came to his decision.Well i told him that i wanted a 2 dr to test him and he told me he will not send a referral in as he is the only one who can send it.Sorry for being so long.Dont know where to go from here.everyone but this one DR thinks farai has ASD. I know i need to fight for my son, but i guess i'm just getting tired and sad and hurt that he wont do it,and i'm feeling maybe i should give up.ERRRRRRRRRRR help anyone who can.
Adienne, I know it's hard and twice as much when you have to fight against the ppl that are heelping you. It sounds like you have lot of allies so that's good. But it is important to follow up.
Personally, I wouldn't even wait until the end of the month to get his opinion he doesn;t sound competent anyhow. I would write a letter to this doctor using registered mail requesting a 2nd opinion based on continuing concerns of an ASD nature from the other professionals who work with your ds. I would ask him to submit the referral to Sunnyhill within 30 days. If the doctor refuses it seems like it's a violation of of the ministry health. Make sure you photocopy it for yourself too and keep the registration number in case you need to complain to BC health.
I would also give a copy to your doctor who agrees with you and ask him if he can do a referral.
It's important to get things moving especially if you need to get waitlisted for gov't IBI/ABA.
