Update and question... | Autism PDD

HI all,
I took my ds to the developmental ped for his first 6 month follow-up on Tuesday.  It went well he looked at her, made a few of his sounds, showed her his favorite sign of Give me, and wandered around her office and pulled the white paper off the exam table while we talked.

Right after the visit I felt a little rushed but when we got  into the car I went over the three pages of notes that I had and realized that I got to tell her everything that I wanted to.  I don't know I guess I just felt like she was in a hurry.

He pretty much has made a 3 month progress in all areas for the past 6 months.  I was pleased to hear this espcially since his brain was still healing from the infection he had in Feb and most of that six months he was getting used to his seizure medication which causes him to zone out  and be tired.  Orginally his neuro said that it could take up to a year for his brain to completely heal and to get back to where he was in Jan. of 07 and even that was a little delayed. Dh and I and his one therapist who knew him before he got sick feel like he is almost there.

My question is a biomedical one.  One of the things that she suggested that we start gving him is milled flax seed. Have any of you used this and has it helped you child?   He already takes B6 and that seems to be helping him focus a little better.

Have a great weekend. I use milled flax seed quite a bit.  It has a nutty flavor so I cook it right in cookies and brownies too.

Flax Seeds:  Eat lots of milled flax seed. 5 Tablespoons or more daily.  Flax seed is consider to be an excellent anti-oxidant for the body.  The flax seed must be ground or milled.  Whole flax seed is not suitable since it is much harder to digest.  Flax seed oil is not as good as milled flax seed.  Mix milled flax seed into bran muffins, homemade bread, your morning cereal.  Again make sure you eat milled flax seed. Flax seeds must be milled or very well chewed to be of benefit.  If you must buy whole flax seed, it can be milled at home using a coffee grinder.
