I am very excited.  His speech has really started becoming much more "real" - yes the echolalia is still very much #1, but he is also putting sentences together and asking for things in complete thought.

He's really progressing ... the past 6 months have been HUGE for him.  It's been  truly amazing how well he is doing.

The girls went through a dramatic phase like that, too - a six or so month period where they really took off.  It was during their second developmental preschool placement - interestingly, utilizing a TEACCH approach.  Maybe they know what they are doing after all :)NYMommy, I read this and your other post.  He's blossoming.  I'm so happy for you!  He really sounds like he's turned a corner and is on his way.  You must be very excited :)Beautiful!  Glad this is going so well for him!Oh man so glad he is doing well

WOW!

My son does not like other children his age.

Well, it sure sounds like he does.  This does not seem like a small breakthrough.  It sounds like he has a DESIRE to be social.  How wonderful!  That is BIG steps, Baby!

Hooray....hooray!

That's awesome! It's always good to hear when our kids are making progress!answering who and what questions, initiating conversations, approching other children, sounds like a good start to me.   Great job!

This is the note in Nick's take home notebook:

Nicholas is doing very well.  He is transitioning with the group and seems to understand the flow of the day.  He is approaching other children, most often to express his displeasure with something they've done (taken a toy, etc.) but he is becoming more playful with his classmates.  He is following stories and answering questions about them ... who comes next? what color? how many? He is not accurate but is participating willingly and confidently as his understanding of these concepts continue to improve.  It is a pleasure to have him here!

WOW!

My son does not like other children his age .. he is fine with his older brothers, and their friends, but will not engage other children his age.  This is something I really hope he can overcome, and it appears it is happening!

I'm so happy and proud of my little man.

How exciting!  The teacher sounds like they will be really good for Nick.  Wishing you continued success!Wow, that is awesome.  Sounds like the placement you have this year is working really well for Nick and he's gaining some nice skills.  Congratulations - so happy for you both!It sounds like Nick is making major progress. It also sounds like the teacher
really cares about him. Sounds like a good fit.
