Does the GFCF diet help with stimming? | Autism PDD

Share

I was told these 2 things can cause the stimming so that is why use leave this thing out. I'm considering trying this for my son.  His stimming has been more lately - constantly making noise and running around...

Couple of my friends reported to me that their child gets more stimmy when
they get a diet infraction. For my son, I did not see a decrease in the
stimming with just the diet. I am on the process of fine tuning my sons
behaviors, so we are on the diet. I think that there are a couple more things I
have to remove from his diet. For us its a protocol that we follow because it
is recommended from our DAN.

My sons stimming has markedly decreased- sometimes we get a day or so with none at all. I presume the diet has done it. I know aba hasn't as we have not focused on it. I also wonder about the supplements that we have done with the diet though rather than the diet itself...

He has been gfcf for 14 months. At times, he may start toewalking again or flapping - both of which had decreased to nothing.. so i actually treat for yeast issues then.

But i have just realised that his eye stims have not been present the last few days and I don't know why that is..maybe the supplements and diet are all in a good balance?

So my short answer, is that the diet and supplements are worth it. Rileys physical signs of autism and a lot of his cognitive skills have been helped and the aba just reinforces the cognitive and behavioural functioning.
