Were going to flagstaff which is a few hours away for a week cuz my husbands boss is sending him to work at that location and I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions what I can do so that when my son goes back to school he wont be the "wild animal", which seems to be his nick name.
He didnt go to school today because he wasnt feeling too great and not to mention moody as hell and I just realized he wont be back to school till the 23rd so now im kinda of regretting and thinking maybe i shouldnt go. I was going to make him a social story of school and read it to him everyday and also do like a schedule time in the hotel where he has to follow direction, do you think that will work? The last couple days were pretty rough at school so im not so sure I should be pulling him away for so long right now but i dont know what to do? Thanks
Hope everything goes smoothly while you are away!! Are you going to have your computer??
Alwaysworried- I live in Kingman, az. Its a little town, nothing like phoenix area (I think its by phoenix, sorry if im wrong
Niki- I was thinking of doing that and bringing some crafts with us to do. The postcard/souv. idea is great, thanks! He is obsessed with this little girl in his class and we nicknamed her his gf lol since hes ALWAYS talking about her.
Our son attended preschool until this year when he advanced to kindergarten. We have taken our family vacation in the last week of September to take advantage of the lower rates after Labor Day at the Beach. This has caused us to take Tyler out of school for a week in September. His preschool has reported that he came back with a new level of talking [Better] after this week and the extended holiday breaks that they take normally.
Have you spoken with his teacher regarding the vacation? Maybe the teacher can give some work you could do with him so he isn't missing out on the school work and may keep up a little better. That should help keep him in a school focused type routine. If the teacher can't give you some work type stuff for the upcoming week, maybe she can give you review work he has already done. You might also consider doing a morning routine similar to that at home where he gets up and eats breakfast and gets dressed all at the same time. Share a story time and nap time if he has that at school also. Hope your trip goes well.
Thanks luckyman, hes obsessed with Bob Marley and LOVES reggae music! Im glad your son does so well after vacation!
Bugs mom, I havnt spoken to his teacher and just left a message because no one was in the office at the time. We are leaving monday morning after his OT so I was thinking of stopping by and seeing if they have anything for me to take and keep him up to date. I know he needs to make up his homework for this week since i kept him home thursday (schools tues, wed, thur).
Thanks guys!
