IEP meeting turned out good | Autism PDD

I think school needs to quit the teaching to tests and go back to teaching to master the lessons. This will help with passing the tests. Its always great to hear things turned out well!Let me first say I know, I didn't have to have that extra paper from ped  dev but I asked him to added in her support stuff (stuff she was already getting in school) in AS paperwork. I trust this Dr. and it's very rare bec, I normally don't trust anyone.  It worked to my advantage.
The IEP, they did not remove any support they only shortened her time a little with the behavior Dr but its not by much and they increase the other times. J has a bunch of new people (OT, resource, social worker, another person went blank). She has the same speech teacher, same behavior Dr. The 2 witches principle and district  helper, got a nice one, I have other words for them didn't show but they are probably licking their wounds.  (They wanted to hold J back last year and I said no.) The (all new) OT,SOCIAL,RESOURCE, and first grade teacher had all this paperwork about J not being able to do this and that. You get my point and they got letters, her goals are so behind. Anyways, they were completely shocked about J being able to do ALL those goals on her testing. They said they had to redue the goals bec she already new them. They couldn't believe she knew how to read.
They kept asking me what I did. I used J disability as an ability. Repetitive memorization for flash cards for her reading. I bought an earse board for her writing with expos. I reminded her the A-z sounds every day.  Worked on sounds bat starts with what noise B-A-T. I Used beads for counting (also help in ot area). I asked for school work sheets for speech, ot, etc. Over the summer, I also hired resource teacher for 2 hrs a week to work on the basic. While I did the other stuff above.
They also gave her an ILP with her IEP.
I justed wanted to say it turned out good.

Wow -- good for YOU!

Sounds like you are working  her strnegths, VERY effectively.  We use LOTS of repetition and drilling -- mostly visual!
