    hi everyone,

I am really beginning to feel like I am not doing enogh to help my son, he just started kindergarten, at a nyc public school 6:1:1 setting. however I really do believe since he had finished EI, his progress has slowed. I have not been able to get the great therapist EI had so i worked with what i got but now it is over and i feel like i have to help my son find his way.he has language but not very spontaneous I am sure there are activities out there he can get into at 5yrs old, but my searches are to no avail.where can i go to find activities in nyc's 5 boroughs, please help me if anyone has ideas. my son is very energetic and becomming increasingly so, i really feel it is time he has a way to channel this energy more purposefully. It hurts me so much to see him litterally bouncing off the walls non stop motion, i feel like i have to help him and dont know how to

Have you looked at any of the activities at the boys and girls club? I know alot of times they offer like mom and me soccer where you go and play with your child or they offer other classes like mom and me gymnastics.  My son really enjoyed the soccer class and seemed really interested in it.  I guess the other thing is is what are you looking for a way to wear him out or just calm him down? I wasn't real clear on that from your posting.

thanks amie never say that so i will reseach it right now

I am basically trying to find a way to help my son channel this energy and would love for him to socialise and play any type of sport possible ,so i want to expose him to some sports with hopes of him actually enjoying or having a favorite activity, if it woud help him in anyother way will be a plus.

thanks!

Hi , You might want to look into your local ymha and ymca. The one by my house runs an after school program 1x a week. Im in nyc area as well. My sons school has someone come from resources for children with special needs. Someone there should be able to tell you phone numbers of centers and organizations that run after school programs for your child.

The man coming to my son's school is Gary Schulman he is at extension 20

Hope this helps.
