Sounds like Sam. He has very few meltdowns with me, listens to what I say, we function very well at home and in the community. He is challenged more at school, different (and higher
I'm glad you're happy with the new placement. I think it makes a world of difference if the mom is content with the teacher and school - we have enough to worry about as it is. It's nice that they gave you a positive comment on your parenting skills, we need to hear them. Your girls are beautiful. mama to Sam 8 yrs PDD NOS OCD ODD PPD and Alex 2 yrs She had it done on Tuesday. Her first was done the end of last years school year and They Observed her with me Present. They said they found she only had an Early Childhood Development Delay and they made a recomendation to put her in Developmental Pre-school. I was NOT happy about this. Fast Forward to Tuesday. After Requesting a 2nd IEP it was done and this time they observed her without me while she was at school. They said she does a complete 180 away fromme and based on their findings now shes considered Mod - Severly Autistic. OK I knew this. (insert Laughter Here) I Told then they should see her without me. Anyway so now shes in the AI class. She started yEsterday... I LOVE IT!!!! its soo much better for her and I love her new teacher. They said that Im obviously a very positive influence in Marrissa's life to be able to acheive the level of cooperation and understanding that I do from her. I just find it a little funny and Odd that she can change that much in terms of what they see to qualify her if Im not around. is this Typical? Marrissa Listens tomost if not all of what I tell her and functions pretty good with me. So good in fact that I have such high hopes for her. But at school and therapy they tell me I need to be consisten with her and get her to Follow Directions...She does, With me!.... ok going off topic.. anyway what do yall think?
doesn't realize he's autistic, and is always surprised to find out. Because
Don has a lot of skills, is cooperative (with us) and follows directions up to
2-3 step directions (eg: "Donny, can you go into the kitchen and get a glass
of milk, then go take it to Grandpa downstairs?"), even a lot of folks familiar
with autism (including a DAN doc) describe Don as "high functioning" when
he's with us. However, with anyone else, and especially at school, he
definitely comes off as autistic, and much more severely affected and less
capable.
I'm glad you got the placement you wanted for your little one!
