In my town we are allowed to choose the elementry(sp) school of our choice, so no home schools here either. Quinn used to get transportation( a school dept. van that came to my house) now I prefer drive Quinn to school in a different part of my town. I don't get compensated.

Hi all,

We are currently looking at out of ditrict placements.  I am not sold on it, and feel pushed by the school.  Some of the schools are half hour to 45 minutes away ( depending on traffic)

I was told she would probably be in a private car being driven by someone the town hires.  I'm not sure I am comfortable with that and may prefer to drive her myself.

Do any of you drive to out of district ?  Does your town give you an allowance to compensate for the gas and your time ?  I'm sure it varies from region to region...but can anyone tell me about compensation your recieve ?  How much is reasonable ?  Thanks !

When I was driving Payne to school...it was the same school system, but a different zone...we don't have "home schools" in our county. I did not receive compensation for it.
