Move to California! :)Does anyone know about a good link to a site that lists what autism
resources are available in which state?
I live in WA right now which has several good universitity and private
programs but a mediocre schoolsystem for asd, does not recquire
insurance to cover and no coverage by state. Actually - officially there is a
waiver program by the state for developmental disabilities only not one
person has been moved of the waiting list since 2000. And this is a
wealthy, well educated state- just makes me want o spit.
Since we are contemplating a move I wonder if there is a list somewhere
on the web that shows what states have to offer or not.
Micki,
Great question. I have often thought that I would rather proactivly move to a state with great resources rather than have the whims of fate (job changes and the like) force my son to live with substandard resources.
If anyone can point us to this information I for one would greatly appreciate it.
Micki,I think the best resource lists are compiled by the Autism Society. For example, go to the Autism Society of Wisconsin's web site to learn what's available in Wisconsin.
Autism Speaks has a resource list that's done by state. However, I think it's missing a lot of info. If you go to Autism Speak's main page, click on Community and then click on Family Resources. You can then search the resource guide.
You probably know this group on yahoo: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/AutismRecoveryWA/
They are very helpful in finding local resources and biomedical intervention help in the Northwest.
