Has anyone heard of this? It sounds really cool. C is doing listening therapy while swinging, but this is much more intensive. I wish I knew somewhere closer that would do it. Here is the link to a youtube video.

Okay, WOW. this is really focused Sensory integration therapy, and it looks
amazing. WATCH THIS, EVERYONE

ps--thanks for the new post leading me here, I think this thread got lost in
the shuffle!OK, when is this coming to Philadelphia, very interesting!I am sooo glad you guys looked at this! It is super basic, and its kind of like i am going"DUH!!" Why are'nt more people doing this??!!! When C does his listening on a swing, I wonder if it is giving him a little taste of the experience? Also, he just really likes wearing his headphones. Sometimes he doesnt want to take them off!dbcmom,  I'm thinking there's got to be a simple way to do something like this at home.  Like you said your son is doing the swing with headphones.   What type of music is your son' listening to???

Thats amazing  and it seems sooo basic,  Lacey i'm wondering about CHOP  if they may have something like this.  They seem to be on the leading edge with most childhood illnesses and disorders.    Think i  may check it out.

Good idea emerald 521! I used to have one, but my other older ds broke it. They were trying to makle a mtv video, lol!

Mason's doing ok...we go back tomorrow to get the ammonia levels redone...I'm hoping they are normal!!  School is still rough for him, but he is slowly adjusting!  Thanks for asking!

Let me know how it goes with the light!  I'm thinking I should get another one too...Mason really loves that horse and music, if I add light we are pretty much getting the same thing they do in that therapy!!

Cool video.

My son does Therapeutic Lsitening (program set up by consultant. )while doing sensory exercies daily. I think it helps open him up. His personality comes out a lot more now and he is more open to learning after his listening.

The place where we've always taken C for private speech and OT does this.  They have a huge therapy room with swings and climbing stuff and spandex hammocks, etc.  C did a great job with the therapeautic listening while swinging, etc. while at therapy but we had a tough time getting him to stick with it at home because he would always take off the headphones when we put them on.  This was a big push at therapy when C was 3 - 4 but we've now moved on to other things.  I think sensory activities and OT in general have been great for C.C is listening to the CD's that are considered "modified"?! I dont know if it s really the actual music that helps him(he is calm and more focused during listening and for 30 min- 1 hour after) or the headphones being on his ears so that he cant escape the listening,or the fact that he like how the headphones feel on his ears. Maybe its a combonation of all of it all? I woudl like to figure out something with lights,too,Carolc...you have agood point, maybe we can think of somethin. I am going to have his speech therapist that he is getting the theraputic listening Cd's from look at the video. Her husband is an OT who works with her, AND he is a HF Aspie! Isnt that perfect for an OT?

Hey dbcmom-what about one of those little disco balls that has all the colors that spin?  Do you think that would be too much, maybe?
