My dh and I were wondering ,why do our kids line things up,our son has gotten back into this ritual lately, and we have car's lined up across our living room, the dining room table, his headboard ect..

Does anyone know what purpose this serves?,Just curious.here is a photo of our boy in action,he mostly lines them up on the straight lines on the carpet,so i guess this is an improvement

My 3 year old has a habit of lining everything up. Can not tell you why, but most of the time he lines them up in an order, like he did last weekend at his grandparents house where he lined numerical blocks in numerical order. Sometimes it is by height, sometimes it is by alternating colors.. It is amazing.

The neuro dr said it had something to do with control....

I asked my son why, and he said it's a game, it's fun.  He then mentioned dominos!  I had never thought of that.  Dominos are a socially accepted reason to line things up, and then knock them down.  We don't even have any, but I guess he saw them in the movie Robots.

I have two boys wanting to take over the computer here, so that's it for now.
