Yay. I'm glad that's working out well for ya'll. It's weird how you mention that the other child has an adhd diagnosis, but presents as an aspie to you. I've seen two kids receintly like that myself. If I hadn't had Brendon first and learned all I have learned in the last two years here on these forums, Jacob would have probably been one of the higher functioning kids who slipped through the cracks. Or I would have sought an adhd evaluation.
Connor's best friend from school is here today for the first time, and they are holed up in his room having a great time. He made all the arrangements himself, though one of the teachers had to encourage them to exchange phone numbers (after I asked her to
). He called his friend's mother, and gave her the address, and presto! They are having a blast
After talking to his friend for 30 seconds, it was sooooooo obvious that he is an Aspie, too, even though he only has the ADHD label. That dx is handed out way to easily, without doctors delving any deeper. I suspect that many don't want to "saddle" the very high functioning with an autism label, even though they would be giving them the leeway to get so many more additional services
Yay Connor! That's so great!
I can hardly wait for the day my son brings home a friend!! I'm thrilled for
