Future Artists?? | Autism PDD

Yes, my daughters are the youngest in their (mainstream) kindergarten class (just turned 5) but are also the best drawers.  Drawing is one of the most common autistic splinter or savant skills.  Definetely encourage the skill, because it's a marketable one if it can be developed.

Shelley's Sarah has produced some amazing Anime recently for a seven year old and Allegra's Sharlett produces beautiful, abstract imagery on the computer.  There are a few other kids who draw well on the board.

I'm with you.  lol  My dd definitely is not an artist.  Her fine motor skills are very weak though.

Hello there -

Was just wondering if anyone little ones on the spectrum can draw exceptionally well ??? My little one is delayed quite a bit in receptive language, has sensory issues, etc..  BUT I brought pictures to show his therapists and they said kids NT 3 and 4 could not draw like that - MY DS drew a birthday cake, face - with eyes, nose, smile, ears, hair - legs with feet and also a car.

Just wondering if anyone has similar stories??

Fred -

what an amazing picture!!!

Thank you for sharing that.  I will continue to encourage DS and make room on the fridge for all the pictures!!!!

My 6 yr old does not draw well at all.  In fact, he asks me to draw him pictures all the time which is funny because I have no artistic talent either.

My 2 year old does better but still too soon to tell.
