SCHOOL TOMMORROW | Autism PDD

Hi MomtoCarlos!

Girl I was just in your shoes in July when my little one went on his very first busride to the summer program which is about a 45 minute drive away...it was HORRIBLE!

for me that is LOL...for him...he did soooo great!  Of course we got in our car and followed the bus to the school the first day and as it picked up the other kids and every time the bus would turn the corner I'd see my little man's baby blue baseball cap looking out the window and that beautiful face smiling and happy...it made me feel so much better..we also got a minute to talk w/ the driver and aide and intriduce ourselves and explain how concerned we were and tell them a little about Nicholas, they ended up being great, the busride was actually the best part of the experience (his summer teacher was a nutzo...she had 14 kids and two other aides we took him out after visiting the open house and seeing how out of control it was and really unsafe, he was in class w/ kids from 3-8 and he's 4 1/2), she was really rough w/ the kids too and just obnoxious all about her kinda thing!)...regular school is awesome...Carlo is going to love it I'm sure and I bet he really has a great bus experience...you may shed some tears, but if he's a happy guy going on and coming off the bus, you'll know he's okay!

Best of luck, keep us posted on how it was!

big hugs to mommy and carlo!

Oh I feel your fear!!!  It will be OK...it really will.  Your little man will amaze you (I'm sure!) with how brave he will become!  Those first times are tough...but I'm sure you'll walk him through that as you have everything else!  It's a huge deal to do all that beforehand...so that's great that you took him to meet his teacher too.  I think it's the unknown for them that's the scariest, and you've already taken care of that.

If it helps at all, I've been in a "zombie state" since my little man started this morning, I'm waiting patiently (NOT) till 3:30 till he gets out.  I had to stop in around 12:30 to bring something to the school and ran into him in the hallway on his way to lunch...HE'S STILL SMILING!  Yay!

I'm sure Carlo will make you proud...it is nervewracking I know...but that first day will be over and done with before you know it!  Good luck to Carlo tomorrow!  Let us know how it goes OK????  HUGS!
