Thanks Trish, wondering if you knew where I could get more info on the several cases of prolonged antibiotics use that you mentioned. Also my grandson had a mri test that showed the white matter at the front of his brain was brilliant white and they will do more tests in six months to see how it is. Hopefully I got that right as I am going by memory. Has anyone any information on or experience with this?My info has come from a Book that I am reading called "Unraveling the Mystery of Autism and Pervasive Development Disorder" by Karyn Seroussi there is a lot of info on antibiotics in this book. On how it can upset the gut that affects the brain. My son also was on alot of antibiotics when he was young for ear infections. You should also look at a Gluten free, casein free diet. My son has been on this diet for about 2 months and everyone including his teacher and Speech Therapist have notice how much more talking and more "with it" he is. He is also on multivitamins and magnesium.

All you can do now it try to mend the damage that antibiotic has done.

Hope this helps you.

Regards,

TrishResearcher are not sure, but it seems likely at this time that many cases are caused by a genetic predisposition or by environmental toxicity, combined with some kind of triggering event that stresses the immune system, such as a vaccination or virus. In several cases, prolonged use of antibiotics seems to have contributed to the onset of the disorder. My grandson had urinary reflux when he was born and was put on antibiotics daily to which he still has now and he will be 3 in Feb. Are there any links with antibiotics and autism.I have a "thing" about antibiotics, I won't take them and I won't let my
kids take them unless absolutely necessary. Jake didn't get any until he
was well past 18 months and well past we knew there was something up
with his development. Just an FYI.Interesting topic - antibiotics
Leaky Gut Syndrome Theory:
I also believe, could be wrong, that antibiotics can cause leaky gut syndrome. My daughter, now 28, always had ear problems - felt like there was water in her ears. This feeling would come and go. Took her to 3 specialist - all said nothing was wrong with her ears - only deaf to certain tones, etc. She was labeled Communication Handicap in First Grade. She stopped drinking milk on her own at age 6! Also stopped eating meat at age 6! Don't know why. Rest of family ate meat and drank milk. Did a lot of research - leaky gut syndrome and acidophalus. Antibotics used to have acidophalus coating - then stopped this coating. Why??
Ask your child's doctor about this coating, etc.
Doctors were to tell patients on antibiotics to eat yogurt (acidophalus in yogurt) after taking antibiotics, etc. My doctor never mentioned this.????
Yogurt - dairy allergy - acidophalus comes in pill form (over the counter).   CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT THIS.
Daughter eats cheese, - gets headaches????
She sells wireless phones now - no communication problem!
She didn't take acidophalus until she was in her 20s.
She stopped drinking milk at age 6.
I know many, many people believe milk makes your body strong, etc. Now they have the add - loose weight, drink milk?????????????????????????????????????????
Daughter stopped drinking milk - did this help her?
Not sure.
Mary Yes mickey you are correct. We all should use prebiotics/probiotics(GOOD BACTERIA).I am on one daily cause of my positive antibodies. Sons are negative. The problem is takes good/bad bacteria both out. Get silver it's a natural one. Ivanhoe,Tx.38610.4355324074
