Kajoli--My son had around 20 words when he turned 3 and did not use them frequently. Have you started with your new ABA program yet? How is it going?

Flip that is SOOO encouraging to hear - our BCBA did the first round of ABLL"s last weekend and she will probably be back next week to finish them up ( she had a conference and that got in the way !
SO hopefully we should start in about 2 weeks - I am keeping my fingers crossed
Yeah! What a blessing!

[QUOTE=daegandays+2]It seems to me that after a few months of working on gaining imitation skills during his therapy sessions he became more interested in copying words.

this happened with my son too he just started saying mum last week!
That is outstanding. What a huge breakthrough! As I always say, "The miracle sounds of a word or Two"Wow--that's great. The fact that he now has imitation skills is also a wonderful sign. What are you doing to get these results?
Kajoli--My son had around 20 words when he turned 3 and did not use them frequently. After 6 months of VB/ABA and floortime, he speaks more words than we can count and in sentences most of the time. He doesn't shut up. His articulation is poor and sometimes he gets stuck on a subject. Like, he will tell everyone in the room what color each item of clothing they are wearing is and then when he finishes he starts over. Or, he will tell me the stories (1 sentence from each card) from his story sequencing cards over and over. He is a master at requesting, greeting, labeling, answering questions. He is becoming much more spontaneous. We are moving in the right direction. I really didn't think he was ever going to talk. Have you started with your new ABA program yet? How is it going?
Thanks everyone! We feel like having a party to celebrate.
KerriI am so thrilled for you and him:) Congrats!
