Hi guys,
Just had to be a proud Momma hen for a moment. We had our annual ARD meeting with the school district for our son yesterday after a month of evaluation while in school.
They have doubled his IEP Goals b/c they think he can handle it. They are also moving up his timetable for inclusion. They originally told us at the end of last year that they wanted to do 2 yrs PPCD and then he would go straight into the regular Kindergarten. But now, they think he will be ready at the end of this year for regular Pre-K. They even said he would be ahead of the rest of the class!
Also, they said he's got 2 friends in class, a little boy and a little girl and that they all do things together. Apparently, he can't sit next to the little girl as they become cohorts in crime...hahaha.
They also said they think he has a splinter skill in languages as he teaches himself Spanish, French, and German from the computer and TV. We are looking into some programs to see if he will like to learn Spanish.
So here's to the start of a new year and a long journey. I am ready for it and excited about it. We've been working on spelling his name and he's almost there, so that will be one IEP goal finished in the next week or so!!! And he's only 3!!! Now if we can just get his behaviors calmed down, he'd have it made!!
Thanks for listening!!
Mindy
