Jacob’s Vineland II Scores | Autism PDD

Share

He ranked in the 4th percentile overall.  I really thought he would be a little higher than that with all of the progress we've seen lately.  I'll get the actual break down percentile scores later in the mail.  They didn't have the scores available today because someone dropped the ball and didn't have their report done.  I understand though.  If the evaluator has had a month anywhere close to how mine has gone....well...and I know the evaluators husband (he used to be my boss) and I can see where she might be a little late with a report.  I'm not going to blow up over it.

Jacob will be starting in a 3 year old program a little before his 3rd birthday.  They had to get special approval from the head of pupil appraisal for that one.  It helps to have acquaintances in high places.  The woman who got to make that decision happens to be the mom of one of my ex husband's friends from college.  Until then, it's still going to be ABA each day.  After he starts school, I'm going to start getting my stuff in order to go back to school myself.

Mary, this is tough, but at least help is forthcoming! Our son scored in the negative percentile, and it was discouraging - as long as I let it be!

What are you going to take in school? It is wonderful to keep learning, I am in school STILL at age 49!

I do know one thing though.  His receptive and expressive language is improving more and more each day.  Last night, I tried to skip the ABA session he likes to do right before bed.  Don't ask me why, but at that time of the evening, I get better results out of him.  I was laying there beside him, and he wasn't having any of it.  I asked him what's up buddy?  He said "ABA".  Then he touched my face and said, "My Mama."  We went through about 4 drills before he would calm down.  I think my kid thinks he has to have therapy before he can go to bed lol.  Time to start mixing up the start time on sessions a little bit.  I'm going to start 15 minutes earlier and gradually ease it to after school sessions.  I don't want to have to get him to touch his nose a million times a night to get him to sleep.

His receptive language is really picking up great.  He can follow 4-5 word sentence commands now.  I can tell him "Go get the ......" and he will.  That's progress from where he was in May.  In May, my baby was really floundering.  We started ABA right away and now he's soaring.  I'll keep it up as long as they make progress with the program.

That's one of the things I have to decide lol.  My options are: 1.) a distance learning program for masters in counseling/aba 2.) local college getting my masters in either special education or adult education.

I'm glad you finally got some answers...that's great they aren't going to just wait...that he gets to start soon!!

YAY!  For you too, for going  back to school!  You'll do great!
