I thought I knew how to read the breakdown of special ed services but the
school and I disagree. Could someone explain this to me:
150.00 minutes/1.00 weekly of help in 'written expression' in direct/
group by special education staff in the general education setting.
150.00 minutes/1.00 weekly of help with 'reading' in direct/group
settingby special education staff in special education setting
60.00 minutes/1.00 weekly of help with 'social/emotional' by special
education staff in special education setting.
All my ds has received so far is 30.00 minutes a day four days a week
(resource room is closed fridays) with special ed staff. Does not seem
right to me. Can someone tell me what he should be getting? Thanks!
my interpretation is he should be getting at least 30 min a day in spec. ed room...and maybe an additional 30min 2xweek or maybe 20 min 3xweek-again in spec. ed room for social skills. Then an additional 30 min a day with help in the regular room.
If he is only getting 30 min 4xweek he is missing out on something! Did they go into detail what they are working on while he is in the resource room? Because either way he is missing out on his social skills or his reading skills or a little bit of both. And from what you wrote it seems like he is getting any of his 'written expression' help.
Is this how you interpreted it? Although I'm not sure what the 1.00/weekly means...seems like it would mean 1 hour...geez now I'm probably confusing you...sorry.
