Really? I guess it's because these kids printed (or attempted to print) their names. I can't get a letter out of my kiddo. I'll have to look back at that picture again. He hasn't been coming home with anything lately, although (YAY) he used scissors CORRECTLY over the weekend, which was a big surprise, so he is making progress for sure with his motor skills.
Sarah's drawings resembled these at 5 & 6 and I feel she is better now because she is so hyperfocused on it...it seems whatever she focuses on she gets obsessive and does it over and over till it looks impressive...if she had no care for it though she wouldnt apply much effort at all. She has to be motivated:)
In this thread I mentioned that Abbie brought home a "book" that was made by her kindergarten class. All of the drawings are of Abbie, some including things that she mentioned during her "interview". I mentioned that it was interesting to see the breadth of drawing ability in this sampling of 5-6 year olds and asked if anyone would be interested in seeing the pictures. Some of you expressed interest, so here they are!
NOTE - this is a regular-ed kindergarten class with 24 students, ages ranging from just-turning-five to passed six years old. The picture quality is pretty poor because it's hard to scan book pages and I had to shrink the pictures to a reasonable size, losing some fidelity, but here you go (ps - check out the writing - one of the kids wrote Abigail Christopher, but perfectly backwards, as if seeing it in a mirror!).

Mommy to Abby Grace 3yrs old PDD/NOSOMG FRED Those pics are so gorgeous ! ! ! ! ! Great pictures fred - so girly too
Thansk folks - just to clarify - these are not Abbie's drawings (they are drawings of Abbie, done by the other kids in her class). One of them is Abigail's, but the other 23 are from her peers. I'd bet you can guess which one is Abbie's :)
they are so awesome
Thanks for sharing
Wow, what a spread. Thanks for taking the time to scan and post these.Abby's drawings are great. I am impressed with how well she is writing her name and how detailed everything in her drawing is. annabellesmom - look closely at some of the middle pictures in the series - there are about 3 or so that are tadpoles - apparently it's not uncommon to still be in this stage at kindergarten age.
