4 am playtime? | Autism PDD

Abby never actually gets out of bed. But she can be a restless sleeper. Sometimes in the middle of the night she tosses and turns and kicks her legs around for about a good hour. Sometimes I wonder if she has even though she is only 3, restless leg syndrome , she is constantly moving her legs in bed.

We've been down this road practically since birth! I totally understand. Honestly its probably the biggest reason I haven't gone back to work. I have 2 that do that and they take turns! One finally gets back to sleep 2 hours later and the other one is up. They have finally learned though that when they wake up they can go into the living room and rock in the chair and play quietly with toys, sometimes they still make the rounds and wake me up, but usually they don't. There is nothing they can hurt themselves with and they are predictable as to where they go and what they do. For the last 2 weeks I have finally gotten real sleep, I've waited 4.5 years for this! Hopefully this was a one time thing with him. My ds sometimes wakes up in middle of night and just starts babbling in his special language, he laughs and sometimes a distinct word comes out but luckily so far he has stayed in bed listening to his ocean wonders aquarium.

We speculated that maybe the very bright, full moon of last night had something to do with it - don't know.

Hmmm.... I did notice the full moon last night.  Do you think there could be a connection?  He also went to bed later then usual - did not want to fall asleep so I was very surprised he was up at 4 am.

We wake up at 4am every day! Augh! Kane wakes up every night between midnight and 1am then he is up playing untill about 3am sometimes later if im up he gets up like its the morning if im in bed well we run into some problems! Last night he was rubbing his feet all over me woke me up he was rubbing them so hard it left little red dots thismorning!  then i had to stop him and the melt down started! My son has started waking up for a few hours almost nightly.  He babbles to himself happily and plays with whatever toy or stuffy he has in his bed.  Fortunately for me he is quite content but I am still amazed at his choppy sleep schedule, as well as the seemingly boundless energy he has throughout the day!![QUOTE=NYMommyof3]

That can actually cause it too. Its like they get so over tired that they can't sleep. I always expect them to sleep alot when they go to bed late or had a full day but all 3 of them will have a rough night instead and be up a large part of the night. Hope he sleeps for you tonight!

I know this happens to many of you, but I suppose I've been lucky.  My kiddo rarely wakes up at odd hours without falling right back asleep.

I guess I shouldn't have thought I was in the clear ... LOL!

4 am ... I feel some fingers gently brushing the hair off my forehead.  Hands on my face.  He rolls over me once, then back again.  I hear him walk into my oldest son's room, then come out, close the door.  Does that with my middle son.  Climbs on my bed.  Lays down, gets up.  This pattern continued until my alarm went off at 5:40.

It's gonna be a long day ... LOL!

We've been having lots of night time activity lately.  Zach was up at 1:00am last night, fortunately back to sleep by 3:30am.  Three nights ago he was up at 12:30am, and didn't go to sleep until 1:30pm, while he was at school.

He has improved greatly though, he used to get up and turn every light on in the house, all the TV's on, pull all the pillows off my bed, followed by the blankets, and if this didn't get me up he would always try poking his finger in my ear, or poking his finger up my nose.

At least when he's up now he's much quieter, and doesn't need every light on.  Now he's learned hugs work much better to get my attention in the middle of the night, than dragging blankets off.

I hope it was just a one night thing, and he doesn't make it a habit.

Good Morning!!

I hope your early bird doesn't make a habit of it.
