Love on the spectrum | Autism PDD

I tell my dd I love her every night when I put her to bed. She obviously doesn't say it back, but still I like to think she has some general sense that "I love you" is a good thing.

So, today we were lying down together doing "quiet time" (since naps are now unfortunately a thing of the past for her

BTW, "we have to buy ____ at the store" is one of her current favorite rote sentences. She just happens to be fixated on berry juice at the moment because they served it at school for the first time recently. So she says "we have to buy berry juice at the store" about 20 times a day. The funny thing is I DID buy her berry juice at the store, but she won't have anything to do with it and gets quite agitatated when I mention it. Yet it's still "We have to buy berry juice at the store" all day long

I can relate to your mourning the loss of the naps, by the way.  How I miss those days.... What a hoot!!!
I remember when my son was younger I didn't know if he would ever say, "I love you, or mommie."  I would say it to him everyday and night when I tucked him in.  I even started signing it along with saying the words.  One day when he got on the school bus, I started to sign it, but before I could finish, he signed it to me and said,
you you really fast.   He is 14 now and says I love you and mommie (his little brother taught him to say mommie).  Jeffery still doesn't have a huge vocabulary, but he is learning more and more each day.

He does say Horses (every single day at least 3 billion times a day).  Okay, maybe not 3 billion more like 2 billion

bless her how cute

we too tell jack we love him 20 times a day but the only one he seems to pick up on his bedtime when we have a rote way of saying it "nite nite, love you, sweet dreams, love you more"and he will parrot it back but sometimes during the day if i say "love you jack" he will say noooooo not bedtime so i don't think he quite gets it yet but still cute
