He was an extremly good baby. Looking back and now that I have another that is NT so far, too good. He'd sit in a bouncy for a hour and watch the light bar or a baby einstein, easily. He arched his back a ton. Constantly looking up. He was not much of a babbler. Loud noises could be going on aroud him, like fireworks, and he'd not notice sometimes. He was smiley, laughing, and loving. He was a good eater, excellent nighttime sleeper and nap taker, and hit all his milestones just on the end range of normal.
Oh yes. My son was/is pretty rigid when you picked him up. This has abated somewhat, in that he'll eventually relax when you pick him up. Before a few months ago, though, he would not.
Also, he would not/does not put his arms up to be picked up. Like Allegra's Sharlet, he did not use a spoon, and has only recently began attempting to use one to feed himself. He usually just grabs food off the spoon, or holds it in one hand while he feeds himself with the other.
At 7mths Kane was not babbling, just sitting up, not really crawling, he hated everyone except me and he was a really bad sleeper. he had really bad reflux so i thought thats y he didnt sleep! i was wrong! he still doesnt sleep! He was eating well though alot better than now that changed when he was about 12mths
At 7 months my son looked/acted no different than his NT brother. At that age they were both starting to crawl.
My ASD girls were screaming, constant tantruming, very little social engagement, not cooing or making any commucative sounds - basically, either screaming or sleeping.
My non-asd son was full of 'red flag' quirky behavior (moreso than the girls, ironically), but was very socially engaged, happy, friendly little guy, and that's the difference.
My son was totally NT as a baby---alittle quiet and liked looking around alot!
Had his first major tantrum at 10 mo!!! (I shut the open doors)---he had just learned to crawl. All my kids were late on their milestones--but not enough to cause any concern.
I can't pinpoint the age in months, but before he could roll over, Cole would sometimes lay on the carpet or his bed and thrash his legs like mad. He would be laughing his little butt off while he banged his heels on the soft surface below him.
My mother in law said, oh look - he's happy to see me. But he'd do it just for fun, seemingly...not as an interaction starter. Some times, he'd do it long enough (off and on) that his legs would rotate his body around like the hand of a clock. Of course, I was right there with him on the floor talking and tickling him...enjoying it. Clueless.
DH and I attributed it to the fact that he could not roll over and crawl yet (he was a preemie). We figured he WANTED some activity, but his body wasn't letting him do it yet. So he invented this thingie and it made him happy to move.
Now? I have seen him occasionally do this at age 7 and know he is stimming. Cole will be in a room by himself or on the other side of the kitchen and just start laughing his fanny off. We often go over & try to jump in to his little daydream, and sometimes he'll volunteer to me, "I'm thinking about Madagascar."
7 month olds are not supposed to be having conversations, or following directions, or pointing to objects so it is very hard for most people to see the signs of autism. Am hoping the very best for you!!
The only signs that I see in retrospect at that age are:At 7 months, my son was very much "in his own world". Very little babbling, awkward attempts at crawling. He also didn't make much eye contact, and was a terrible sleeper still.
My other children were much more engaged at his age, with the exception of my oldest. He was always a very calm baby. He was also a late walker (15 months). That said, so far, he appears to be NT, though we are beginning to look at the possibility of some kind of LD. I have to wait about four months before I can have him evaluated by the SD, though. He has some autistic traits, I think, but, well, anyways. That's off the topic. Sorry.

Sharlet at 7 months was not much more advanced than when she was a newborn. Not sitting, rolling, crawling, babbling, no eye contact, not holding a spoon etc etc etc.
