Can’t seem to figure her out | Autism PDD

Helps to get ideas from others

My daughter.  We know my ds is HFA with outher issues, but dd is another thing.  She's 9.

Maybe some of you guys with girls can help me out?  I'm trying to decide if her issues are just her ADHD or maybe something a little more.  She's becoming tough to handle-maybe I should be handling her differently.  As she gets older her issues are getting clear-cut and worse.

This kids is non-stop go, go, go, and talk, talk, talk. And impulsive & doesn't sleep.  This I know is her ADHD.  But even on meds, she transitions very poorly, melts down over the same things almost daily, doesn't "listen" when people (especially me or daddy) are talking to her; talks but really doesn't carry on a reciprical conversation.  Her reading and spelling are 7th grade, but her comprehension is 2nd grade.  She has some sensory issues.

I use the usual techniques for ADHD when trying to get information across to her, and more than half the time she can't tell me what I said.  Her classroom tests prove this.  I've requested testing thru the school district.  Its interesting, when she was about 3 and I had both kids at the behaviorist MD, he wondered if she might be Aspergers, but then decided not and that was b/f my ds was diagnosed with HFA.  Ideas?

I do see a lot of red flags. I have three children. My youngest has autism. My
two oldest do have attention issues. My oldest son has more of the
overfocus type. My middle daughter sounds a bit like your daughter
although a bit milder. My daughter has been on a swim team since she was
6 and she works out 5-6 days a week. If she didnt, she would be a mess.
She is exremely high energy. I know that in Southern Ca. that there are
specific ADHD schools to help children with a lot of issues. I think UC Irvine
has a good program. I do know that behavioral Interventions is usuallly
advised but it is almost impossible to get funding for. I would more likely
take her for an evaluation with someone who is an expert in Aspergers not
ADHD to see what is really at the bottom of her behaviors.KathyK39347.5332986111Doesn't aspergers get misdiagnosed as ADHD very frequently?? I thought I read that somewhere.

Can you get her reevaluated at this time?
