sudden change?? | Autism PDD

Has anyone ever experienced a sudden change in their child??  Not one that you could clearly put your finger on but more like there is a certain spark that wasn't there a week ago??  My son, who is about 3 months shy of three is suddnely repeating words, identifying some pictures in books, looking at us ALL, wanting people besides me, and just taking an interest in things around him more.  I am so thrilled, don't know if it really means much....could disappear I guess.  And it isn't anything anyone who doesn't have a kid on the spectrum or who works with the same type of kids would notice.  He is still way out there.....and even his new actions aren't typical ones, just more indicitive of engagement. This reminds me of a thread started a few days ago about children who are getting sick or have fevers who appear to be doing the types of things you are talking about.....  I'm not saying that is what i think is going on but it would be interesting to me if your child did come down with a fever today or in the near future.  if i can find the thread i'll post it. http://www.autism-pdd.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=20132&am p;PN=6

Hey NJ.  I have had the same thing happen here in the last 4 months or so.  Liam has added words, hugs often, engages us for playtime and his eye contact keeps getting better and better.  He just started school and therapies last week, so there was really no "reason" for the spurt.  In the back of my mind, I worry about regression, especially because he developed normally until 18 months and severly regressed.  So, instead of worrying, I decided I would simply sit back and enjoy.  You are welcome to join me.

Good for you...and great for your son!

And no fevers or sickness yet!!
