allergy test for autestic kids | Autism PDD

hi every one. today i took my son to doctor to check for food allergy, he send me to the lab to get blood test. but i have a friend she told me allergy test for gloten and casein food is not like blood test. any one has done this test before.

When my DD stopped sleeping and started to fall apart at 18 month I demanded allergy tests after I read about milk allergies and how behavor could be afected.

We tested - negative for all.yet I have her off milk and soy and have seen a great inprovement and also this cleared up a cronic sinus infection ( 3 running months)

Many other parents I know also have kids sensitive to both and also have tested negative. I wound try removing dairy and see what you see.

the best to you

Well... it could be a digestive issue. I mean as far as dairy, which may need to be injested, rather then injected, or whatever they call it (sence they scratch, but may not actually inject, close enough)

Not sure tho, not a dr, hehe. I have never had such a test, and to this day eat plenty of ice cream and drink plenty of milk.

Your friend might be talking about the Gluten and casein peptide test, which is a urine test.

It sounds like the doctor was testing for regular food allergies.  They're looking for raised immunoglobulin levels, which show that the body thinks the food is something to fight off, like a virus or bacteria.

My son has had his blood tested for allergies, and has also done a skin scratch test (more reliable).  My son only has airborne allergies, but his blood reacted to peanuts whereas his skin didn't.

A full-blown milk allergy is pretty rare -- only about 1-3% of kids, and it usually goes away after 3 years old, when the digestive system is more mature.  Wheat allergy is also rare, but there's another wheat-related condition called celiac disease.

A wheat or milk allergy will certainly make people more motivated to do the GFCF diet, but many people try it without any testing.

You might be interested in what the Norwegian government recommends to those who want to try the diet.  I posted their checklist here:

Good luck with everything.
