alternative vaccination schedule? | Autism PDD

Share

Does anyone have an alternative vaccination schedule they can share? I
have a 2.4 yo son recently dx with autism and b/c of that I am
concerned about the vaccination schedule for my almost 6 month old
baby girl... she already got the regularly scheduled shots at 2 and 4
months, but I'm wondering if/how to change things up from here. Any
advice appreciated.

There have been posts on this before. I have written extensive ones - so you might want to search my username for it. Sorry, I'm in a rush and don't have time to search for it myself - crazy day today!

Another thing - there is a book by Dr. Stephanie Cave that helps with this. I can't remember the specific title - but it is something like "What you need to know about vaccinations and your doctor won't tell you".

Hope this helps!

I am going through similar thing with my 4 month old. My 3 1/2 year old has developmental delays and my husband and I sincerely believe the vaccines contributed to them.  We have not done any vaccines yet. We may start at 6 months. My 4 month old is breastfed and at home with me so we felt we didn't need to start them until at least 6 months. We are also going to spread them out.  His ped is not thrilled but ok with it. We talked at the last visit and agreed that the only vaccines really necessary in the first year for a child in the US are DTaP, Hib and Prevnar. I'm very hesitant about Prevnar because it contains soy and my son is very sensitive to soy in breastmilk. We will probably start with DTaP. Definitely no flu shot as my 3 1/2 year old has an egg allergy and had a bad reaction to the vaccine that he got before we knew about the egg allergy.  One other thing we talked about at our last ped visit was taking titers to make sure he actually needs all of the doses.

Stephanie Cave's book is good. I also liked Aviva Romm's book Vaccinations. Dr. Sears is coming out with a Vaccine Book in October. Mothering.com also has a discussion group on Vaccines and Selective/Delayed schedules.
