Just curious about all the lead issues lately. I sent my daughter's hair sample in, and I am little shocked! Not much lead or mercury but an astounding amount of Uranium. Has anyone else ever heard or seen this? Not sure where she could have gotten this from! I haven't had a chance to speak to doc about it, but was curious if this might be common with ASD kids. As a matter of fact, I just got Adam's metal results back two days ago. There is really only one reliable way to test for levels of heavy metals and that is with a urine porphyrin test. To do a hair test is not really reliable, because if your child has ever had a hair cut then you have cut away the evidence of any metals from that time. Adams was done at a lab in France. Our testing was done through a Dan doc. I know the Great Plains lab also does the same test. Anways, our test results came back positive for high levels of mercury and lead. So, we will be chelating soon I'm sure, although not through IV.Cassidy had allergy, yeast & heavy metals testing done last summer. Nothing abnormal in hers...I love the photo montage of Cassidy, Chera25!!! Too cool!!!Thanks! :)
Sarah has high yeast, lead and glutien/casien protiens.
We did GFCF diet, nystatin and detox cream. She is back to normal now.
Just wanted to add that when my sons lead levels were tested through blood testing they came back normal. When tested through urinary porphyrin tests they came back highly elevated. Blood tests are not reliable because the lead settles after a certain amount of time.Shelly-what kind of detox cream? I am considering epsom salt lotion/cream for ds. THanks!
Hello good people.
This is something very specific to "chelation" for which we have a section so...I'm gonna shuffle the cards and this oneis going to chelation!
Much love.

I just wanted to add on that the reason for the hair test's inaccuracy is it only shows what the body is excreting. SO many of these ASD kids are actually retaining the heavy metals because their bodies are unable to eliminate it because there is something wrong w/ their methlation process, gut, etc.
Blood test only shows recent exposure, not what has been absorbed by the body and stored in the tissue. The French lab is still controversial, but many docs use this in conjunction w/ chealtion challenges and tests to determine if the methylation cycle is working correctly to make the determination about the heavy metals and if to chelate.
