Jambav has an autism simulator that shows how people with autism see (I don't know about everybody, but at least one person with autism on this board found it realistic). It doesn't really help with vision problems, but might help people who deal with your son be more patient with him. For the simulator, click on JamX at the link below.

Jambav also has a reading tool that makes reading easier for children and adults with visual problems. Click on Eye Can Read at the same address.
I've heard that playing catch helps. Instead of using a ball in the house, we use small plastic garbage bags or grocery bags filled with a sheet of crumpled up newspaper and tied off with a twistee. It's easier to catch, since it moves slower and the child can catch the tail if his reaction time is little slow. My son is into Lego Bionicles, so we pretend the bags are sea squids (a weapon for underwater creatures). You can also pretend they're shooting stars.
I hope someone has some other suggestions for you.
We have looked into vision therapy. Google Minnesota Vision Therapy - that is where we have looked into it. I believe they have links and info that may be able to direct you elsewhere. To be perfectly honest, I'm not sure how much I believe in it - we haven't done the program. It's VERY expensive and time-intensive. Right now, I can't imagine doing it with my son during the school year as he goes to all-day kindergarten and that's all he can deal with at this time. We may start to work on it next May and finish at the end of the summer.
Anyway, my son has vision tracking problems and amblyopia. He has problems with depth perception as well. This is not caught on a regular eye exam - it is caught by going to someone who specializes. We had a topic on convergence insufficiency, I believe - just a few days ago on the board. You may want to search for that as well.
Keep us posted!
Has he had an eye exam to check for vision problems?Does anyone have advice on how to deal with visual scanning, tracking and sequencing problems? My son has trouble scanning through lots of photos to identify an object. For example, a Where's Waldo book would be much too challenging. He also has a really tough time copying block designs.
Any ideas on how to help? He is 3 1/2 years-old.
Thanks.
