I'm so happy for you all.  Well done mum and dad, well done.
I'm really, really happy for you!

Your post brought tears to my eyes.  Hard to express how happy I am for you.  What wonderful, wonderful news.

AWESOME!

Doing a happy dance for ya! That is so terrific, love hearing stories like that.
GO YOU for advocating & not giving up. WOOHOO!!!!

We had our IFSP meeting yesterday and it was an amazing experience.  We showed up and our lawyer who we found thru a service was there, laptop set up and ready to go.  Collins psychologist was there, the one we found for the independant eval.  And omg so many other ppl.  Think we were a main attraction or something.  All in all there were 11 ppl around that table stuffed together all for my lil boy.  Only two of the staff I had ever met, the others were all new faces and had never even seen my son.

So the meeting started out much like always the big kahuna twisting everyones words around fighting us tooth and nail.  I looked to my left and my husband was infuriated, he looked like he was either going to cry or jump up and attack her neither was good.  Then i looked to the right and the dr. was there and he looked right at my husband and put his hand up almost saying, i got this.  It was a sight from there on out.  The dr. was amazing he fought for us tooth and nail.  And honestly the school had no room to stand no way to fight.  And every time she would come back with something either the dr. or the psychologist would jump in.  Its like we were observing  heaven lol.

Well after a long and stressfull 2 1/2 hours finally a year and a week after signing the original paperwork to start this process, Collin was diagnosed educationally with autism.  NOt only autism but MR as well, I know it doesnt sound good but all in all the dual diagnosis discribes Collins needs the best that can be discribed.  So finally we have and ASD consultant for the teachers, finally they are going to send someone to my home and help me with his smearing and potty training.

And to amaze me even more his teacher/case worker who has been pretty silent about this whole thing all along was almost in tears at the end.  She took us out side hugged both of us and said thank you so much for advocating for your son.  Like she knew all along this should have happened but couldnt do anything.

We have another meeting sometime next month but its just his 6 month meeting.  And during that meeting we will get to discuss his transition into kindergarten.  They like to prepare u early, meet ur child and so on and so forth.  I cant believe he will be in kinder next year.

One huge heavy weight off my shoulders.  I still think it hasnt hit me all the way.  I have been fighting this so long I forgot what its like to not be fighting lol.

I am clapping and cheering for you!!

Isn't it a wonderful feeling to have a plan you are satisfied with in place?  I'm so happy this doctor stood up for you as well.  What a blessing!

YAY! REMEMBER THIS MOMENT! That feeling of victory...conquering...memorize it. WONDERFUL!!What a relief for you!
YAY! REMEMBER THIS MOMENT! That feeling of victory...conquering...memorize it.
Exactly what I was going to say, congrats! most of the "Wars" in my poetry were derived from IEP meetings just like that one described above.  I have allegorized Anyone on the school's "Side" as giants
