ADHD or Autism | Autism PDD

Since finding out Leah is autistic and learning more about it. I am beginning to wonder if my 12 yr old might be mildly as well. She was diagnosed w/  ADHD over a year ago. I was trying to find out what to do to teach her, I have had huge difficulties with her reading. She is around a 2nd grade level in reading and we have tried everything it seems.

She likes to spin things, constant touching - she tells me she likes to touch soft things and nothing is as soft as human skin.

Prefers to be alone, hates change (though won't ruin her day), problems with social settings and how to act. High pain tolerance, no real fear of danger. She had huge language delays. Didn't talk well until almost 5.... we always thought it was because of ear infections... now I wonder.  She did speech therapy for awhile and it helped a lot. She is still in speech therapy though because of enunciation.

What do you think? What about reading???

What you describe sure could be pdd-nos. In many ways she sound very
much like my ds. I think it would be a good idea to have your older
daughter reavaluated by someone knowledgeble. There are a lot of
overlaps between asd and adhd but it is not the same. Did you do the
adhd and pdd assessments on childbrain.com for her yet?I don't think she would want to be diagnosed autistic... she made some comments about that. I am not sure why... said it would bother her.

I just want to figure out how to help her.

Yep, sure could be.

Some people consider ADHD to be a continuum of the autism spectrum ... others see it as simply a symptom in ASD kids or in NT kids, separately.
