"Thank You" for all the warm welcomes! You are a great bunch of people!
And it is definitely interesting to see all the "things" our kids are attracted (?) to...
My oh My...
We gotta work on this sensory thing...
We go to a new psychiatrist on the 8th of October, maybe he can give us some more insight... but probably no more than what I got right here.... THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!
My 15 year old son loved ladies legs in stockings. When we went shopping he would walk up to any lady wearing stockings and run his hands over the stockings. It started when he was 3 and by the time he was 8 it had stopped - thank goodness! As a small boy he didn't offend anyone but I can imagine the responses he would get if he did it now as a 5' 10" 15 year old.
Nana...the visuals I am getting of the leg thing made me laugh.
I have a woman's long hair man here. He loves to stroke it, smell it and look at it in the sunlight.
If he EVER comes home with a wife, I can bet she will have long hair. When your grandson presents his wife, we can all be sure that she will have smooth, clean shaven, shapely gams.....
On a more serious note, we definitely believe this is sensory, which is odd, since he tends to like deep pressure. Good luck. And welcome...of course!
I don't have any suggestions - it's obviously a sensory thing. Welcome!
Cam hasn't posted yet becuase he's trying to figure out how HE can get away with doing this in public.
He hasnt done it recently though so maybe he'll grow out of it
It sure is nice to have another Grandma here
Grandma to Devin 3yrs ASD / SID
Ears - that reminds me - Anthony loved ears when he was little. It lasted about 4 months and then passed. My 3 1/2 year old is sensory seeking and grabs feet and hands and tries to rub them on his face. Thankfully he limits it to family members for now.Welcome to the forum. My son's thing was chins, then ears. The favored body part changed, but the sensory need was still there.
If you haven't done the sensory checklist yet, it should help you identify your grandson's overall sensory needs and issues. Understanding the behavior will help you change it, and since change can take time, it doesn't hurt to start early.
Here's the link to the checklist:

Good luck with everything.
He is sooo adorable!
Sorry no advice on the leg thing, lol, although I did get a chuckle out of it!
Just wanted to say welcome to the board!!
Hey, my boy began to be a "Boob man" at age 8 or 9, just about the time he was eye-height with them! He just reached out and squeezed them. He learned QUICKLY that that was a no-no! But, at age 16, he's STILL really interested and sometimes talks out loud about "titties." A couple of weeks ago, we went to Kohl's. The fall sweaters were being displayed on headless half mannequins. I turned around to his call of "Mommy, look...." only to have him finish the sentence with "...NAKED!" He had slipped the sweaters off of two of the mannequins and was announcing what he "saw" to the rest of the world! He's a BIG, 6'2" kid, so I IMMEDIATELY told him to put the sweaters back and never do it again! However, it's TOTALLY clear to me what he's thinking about when he looks at girls, if I ever wondered before. My 3 year old loves bare shoulders on women. So any lady who wears a tank top will get caressed by him. He will snuggle his face and rub their arms.
Isn't he (GS) sweet? This pic is about a year old, but I love it! DH would not like it seeing as how he's lost 40 lbs. since then. I'll have to get a more recent one... but for now I just wanted ya'll to see my "angel"...

Thanks Linda!
Shapely bottoms, huh?
Oh yeah. He is certainly cute.
Thank you Zayzer, I love him and enjoy him so much. It's just hard when you don't know how to help. But you KWIM... Yes I know. Cooper is very lucky to have you in his life. You are lucky to have him also. My kids miss their gramma so much. He's ADORABLE! I can only imagine his way with women ...
and yep, my Sam's a bottom-watcher. GEEZ!
Oh, my ... I have a son who admires shapely ... bottoms!
And has since he was TWO. He is NT/ADHD(?) ... DH catches him scoping women out, ALL THE TIME (Dh does too, so he knows).
But ... fortunately, he somehow learned early to look, not touch! But he is known to "woooooooooooooooo!" sometimes at a particuarly attractive one. Not that that is not bad enough!
I think deep pressure might be key, there ... good LUCK!
Zayzer, sorry if the title threw you. LOL
Maybe our little ones are a LOT smarter than we give them credit for, only doing these behaviors with known people (so far)...
Hi Kathy! Welcome!! You sound like a great, caring nana to Cooper. Yes,
Elle, thank you for all the suggestions... I especially love the one where he holds onto a grown-ups legs, while they're walking. I'll try that... of course he's 34 pounds so don't know how far I'll get...
Thank you for the kind welcome, I already feel like I know most of you.
Yea, I liked the title....
Thanks Payne's Mom...
I was hoping it would get noticed! LOL!
I'm sure it did...surprised Camusa isn't here yet! ...or is he?
Yes it was pretty clever. This one wont get ignored.
I don't have any advice sorry. My son loves eyelashes and eyebrows. He likes to rub his finger and lips on them. Has most of his life. It is cute now but like the leg thing It can be a problem when he is older. Thankfully it is only with known people.
Hi!
Let me introduce myself first of all. I am Cooper's Nana aka Kathy. I have been reading this forum since before my sweet, beautiful GS was diagnosed with autism in April, 2005. He was 32 months when he was diagnosed. He is now 4 years old. Before I address the subject of this post "Leg Man"
Now to "Leg Man".... Cooper has a thing for girls/ladies' legs. Has anyone else experienced this? I suspect it's a sensory thing. If he sees a girl/lady in shorts, he's there... making them uncross their legs, climbing on and wrapping himself around those legs, putting his face between them and rubbing them... well, you get the picture. Thankfully, for the most part, it's usually girls/ladies who know/love him and they think it's cute... but... it probably needs to stop.
BTW, he is pretty much non-verbal... just a few words that don't always come out right, but every now and then he'll surprise you by saying something... For the most part, he just babbles all day long.
Anyway, good to meet you all. Sorry the post was so long.
God Bless...
Kathy
