My son is a tactile sensory seeker, so snuggling and rubbing lotion on his feet help him wind down. I'm afraid he's too dependent on me for falling asleep, but I'm not ready to fight that battle quite yet.
My DS has such a hard time getting to sleep at night. I am pretty sure its because school has started and he's so anxious. Either he cant fall asleep or cant stay asleep. Any suggestions ?? I still havent filled the prescription for the Zoloft. I am still not sure I want to put him on medication. Have you tryed singing to him or cuddling him?
Is the Zoloft for anxiety (as opposed to depression)? Would he tolerate a
oops im sorry i figured he was younger like 4 or 5 sorry i just remembered what helped me as a kid
We have sleep issues, too, particularly when there's a major change like a new school year.
Physical exertion, maybe right after school, can help but not when you get too close to bedtime. Watch how much fluid he is drinking, too...if he has a semi full bladder, it can rouse him. Also, we have to do homework before dinner...it seems to rev him up or something. Same thing with using the computer or watching a DVD.
White noise is a great idea. Check the room temp, too. I find if we keep it slightly cool but put Cole in long sleeved and long pantsed (is that a new word for Wikipedia?) pajamas, it can help. This has backfired, though, when he's come downstairs with little popsicle toes that woke him up!
If you find something, POST IT please! We need help in this area, too.
We do all those things too. I am thinking of calling his dr tomorrow to see what they say.
