Son refuses fish oil | Autism PDD

My children won't take Nordic Natruals DHA Jr Chewables, but I can buy the DHA Jr. liquid and put it in their drinks w/ no problem.

You could try flaxseed oil which can be hidden in other foods without as much difficulty

flaxseed oil supplies alpha-linolenic acid (ALA)

which the body can break down into
eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA)

fish oil supplies the EPA and the DHA directly

fish oil is better than flaxseed oil, but flaxseed will get you started easier. We used flaxseed oil for about 18 months before switching over to fish oil.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post in, but does anyone know of a good DAN doctor in the Los Angeles area (preferably San Gabriel Valley, but really anywhere in L.A. county or even beyond if it is a really good doc)? I am looking for someone to work with my 2 yo son. Please let me know, thanks! hmm... just curious, did you actually refer to it as 'fish oil' and have him hear that, it would be a huge turn off to me (and still is). I know nothing about what it really is, but had it been refered to as anything else I might be tempted to try...I GIVE MY SON THE LIQUID & HE HATES IT. BUT I PUT IT IN A SYRINGE & SQUIRT IT IN HIS MOUTH HE CHASES IT WITH WATER RIGHT AWAY.  I BUY THE ADULT STREGNTH & THE HOTLINE SAID TO GIVE HIM 1/2 A TSP. ITS THE SAME FORMULA AS THE CHILDRENS. I JUST STARTED DOING IT SO WE WILL SEE!! GOOD LUCK.Daniel hates take any kind of pills. He does supplements with grapejuice. It over rides the supplement taste. As far as saying it's fish oil - it depends on the child. With my son, I told him it was fish oil as his obsession at the time was sharks. He thought it was SOOOO cool that he got to take fish oil! Sometimes you have to use those obsessions...

I got some Nordic Naturals childrens DHA for my son today and he smelled it and said yummy ~ Then he took a bite and procedded to spit it out and say "yucky ball"!!

I really want to start him on this and would love any advice on how to get him to take it. Should I mix a liqued version into something or is there another better tasting one he might chew?

Thanks so much for any advice.

Liquids mix them in  JUICE this should over ride the taste with a fruity taste. Oils if this doesn't work rub them at the bottom of the feet just as effective as done by mouth. Other good fats are avacadoes/olives/oliveoil/canola/flax. Try adding oils in the pancake mixes.
