Britax Regent - on sale at www.babyage.com for 209.99 plus .95 s/h. I don't know how long the sale goes - I just bought 2 a few days ago. That may be how you found this place - I posted on it a few days ago as well! Do a search on this board for Britax Regent - it should come up with my post. That's what we have (the Regent) & I'm SO glad we have it.  Our dd is 3, and she'll get years out of this.  My 6 1/2 year old can fit in it just fine.

Our younger boys have outgrown their infant carseats.  Brendan is 5, Ian is 3 and they are about the same size.  Ian has ASD.  We moved them both into "booster" seats with the full back and such.  Problem is.. Ian will not keep the seat belt on correctly.  I'm realy worried about him getting hurt, especially since he falls asleep in the van often.  It has been a week and he's still having trouble.

Has anyone gone through this?  My older son who has ASD was much smaller and was about 5 before he transitioned to a booster.  I'm thinking of trying to find a carseat for children with special needs which is made for kids who are bigger but has the 5-point harness like the regular carseat.  Any info would be so helpful.  Actually, that is how I found this forum was doing a Yahoo search for Carseats-autism. LOL

My five year old has had to be in a booster seat since he was three because he is so big.  One thing to keep the seatbelt on the works is either getting the clip that pulls the belt down so that it is not overly high. (This worked for a while for us and he wasn't pulling at it as much or trying to take it off.) You can also buy locking seatbelts that can be installed where the regular seatbelt is so they can't undo it while you are driving.  I believe they have a quick release that you can activate if you need to in a emergency.  I would go to the top of the page and search carseats.  There are several threads that have multiple pages on them.  I think that will be the most informative.
