Aaagh! Trying to get my dd INTO spec. ed. | Autism PDD

I'm so frustrated with our SD.  I know most ppl try to get their out of spec.ed. but I'm hitting a brick wall trying to get her in.   She has severe LD's reading and math at a beginning grade 1 level and she's in grade 4. She also has CAPD and Pdd-nos/NVLD and dysgraphia.

They've dismantled their spec.ed. classes except for children in the most severe 1% that they say she doesn't qualify for.

They're cheap as sh!t and getting an aide is a joke.

They are offering "regular classroom with withdrawls assistance from the resource room"  Inorder to  comply to this placement the spec.ed teacher only has to work with her directly for a few minutes every week.   The spec.ed says he'll try to find time to show her how to use assistive devices as he's able.   But, they won't be available for her to learn in real time in class.

I hate this mainstream right now ... I was at the school tonight for a meet and greet and every thing going on in the classroom is far beyond my dd.  And, it made all her challenges that much more noticeable and how much she is excluded from in a mainstream classroom.   Now she's segregated to do her own work like an island amongst her superior performing peers.  She was prescribed an FM system to hear the teacher better but what's the point if the curriculum lecture exceeds her level of learning?

I'm so pissed at these ppl all they've done is dump kids who used to be entitled to smaller class sizes and specifically trained teachers into regualr size classes with as little support and instruction as they can sneak by.

Ozzie,
Has your daughter tried Fast Forword or Lindemond Bell. I know that some
of the Moms in my area talk highly about both.
