Question for the professionals :) | Autism PDD

and that means you parents.....

I'm starting to worry that I'm doing too much to quickly...which is funny since Riley will be 9 in 2 months!!!   BUT....his IEP is tomorrow, so I still have those reports to review, he has neuro appt. (who also specializes in Autism/DD) on Sept. 26...we were referred for mult. reasons, the first not being for evals....and the Child Psych office just called and scheduled us for Sept. 13, 20, & 27 for evaluations....(we were referred to both by the same docs...a diff't psych & a GI)

They've all assured me that each won't interfere with the other, but I have a terrible feeling we're going overboard now.  I seem to recall many of you have said you've gone to both, so maybe it's good we're getting them all done, but I can't help but feel like this might be a little too much to quickly.

In your 'professional' opinion...is it?
thanks for any input ~ Lesley

Now remember every ones opinion will be different. Here is mine. I think its good to go to several doctors, they are all different and have seen different things. It will help ensure your child will get the best possible care. One may say he has a sensory issue with sound and another may say he is has good small motor skills. Putting those two things together in an IEP and in class will help that example have reduce sound and extra small motor task!!

(am I making sense, cause I just sounded funny reading it). Anyways be careful if 2 opinions are opposite get a third with experience in the specific problem.

Now for my experience...neruologist are driving me insane!! I am going to Vanderbilt in TN where they are very open and willing to get each others opinions. So someone will have surely seen a child like mine with severe progressive myo clonic seizures. The other 3 I saw were of no help and put him through 9 medications that did nothing for him. I wish I would have been seeing more than one doc from the begining!! Hope this helps, good luck with that busy schedule.

****Getting everything done right away is also good, gets services in place sooner so your child will do better later*****
