All kinds of good news | Autism PDD

Jodie started 2nd grade on Monday. I met with her teacher last week. She was awesome!!! She actually gave me her email and asked for mine. She said she wanted to stay in constant contact with me. She actually listened to my concerns and tried to help me come up with ideas on how to start the new year for Jo. We've exchanged emails once already this week.

I've already heard from the special ed dept. They just wanted to see how the summer went and wondered when I wanted to meet.

Who says public schools suck?!?! I love this school!

Also, I got Jodie's Terra Nova(I don't know what they are called elsewhere. I just mean the standardized test that they take every year) test results back from last year. She scored in the average range on most things. She only scored low in social studies. Of course, because of the hyperlexia, she scored super high in reading.

I've been warned that her scores may come down once that the work gets more abstract. I know thats true, but I felt like celebrating anyway.

That is so AWESOME!!! I love our public school here also!! Good news about the test scores!! That is one thing I really worry about as my son is getting to be school aged now.
