That is really cute.

Amanda used to break her glasses a lot to get attention.  The best money I ever spent was on the breakage insurance, more than 60 broken pair in 18 months.  She doesn't do it anymore because she realizes nw that she can't see without them.

A plus side to the glasses breaking though is that we take her glasses from her when she gets mad and put her on a bean bag chair to help calm her down.  Well now when we take her glasses from her she knows she is getting off track.  A couple of times she has even calmed herself down.

John N Texas, what a softie. That is fabulous. I loved using the computer with my guys. I would sit them on my lap and use a Living Book. I wouldn't click on the next thing until they had said something about what had happened, of course I had to prompt heavily. And now the computer is a life saver for my son.

My daughter did something cute this week. She had fallen over and broken her new glasses and when I went to pick her up she was quite calm. I was so worried and asked her if she had cried. She said she had the tear effect but no noise.

She was so brave and what a cute way to describe it.

MARY-

my son has the same problem he use to wake up at night and cry and we would rub his legs and feet.

but with/in the last month he wakes up and says he has a bee in his toe.  and cries. i wonder what it feels like to say that it is a bee.

John N Texas,

It is so nice to hear from a father who cares so much about his daughter!!! I love reading your posts but it makes me jelouse!! I only wish my kid's dad cared enough to read some of the posts let alone write some!! You are a good role model for other fathers!! Keep up the good work as a parent to a very special child!!

Your story was SO CUTE!  However, it gave me insight into what might be going on with my PDD daughters feet when she is stubbling and crying.  She doesn't talk yet (she will be 3 this weekend).  I bet her feet (or foot) are asleep!

My daughters feet fall a sleep a lot. SHe will normally cry when this happens and rub her feet. Well, the other day when it happened she said "open my toe mommy, bees come out".

Her voice is often monotone, and her sentences very disorganized but she had said this clear as bell.

We watch a lot winnie the pooh w/the hunny bees. (:

If you don't mind, please share something cute or funny that happened this week?

Mary

Mary I think its great your daughter used clear speech!

Hi Mary,

lovely story! And she made an organized sentence!

What a cutie pie!  Thank you for sharing this story.

Jo.

Amanda has started using a laptop at school this week.  She is asking for one and since she is an only child and I am sucker for her I said I would get her one.  This morning when I went to get her out of bed for school she was sitting up in bed in the dark using the sign for PC and saying, "please."  I went and got her one today with a stack of Best Buy gift cards and 6 months no interest for the balance.  And yes, I did get the service plan.

This was the first object she asked for with a sign that wasn't food.

 John N Texas,

I know what you mean about the "I don't know how you do it" statement also.
I dreamed I would have two boys one day--got that.
I dreamed I would have one that looked like my husband--got that.
The youngest looks like me

I watch my boys get on and off the bus from school with good and bad days.
I watch them hit golf balls at the golfing range with their dad.
I watch my oldest enjoy another one of God's beautiful creations (horses) and
love how much he loves watching and feeding them.
I love that my youngest gets excited everytime he sees a rainbow in the sky--he
has pointed out about 5 of them to me.
I watch my boys laugh and cry.
My oldest kicks me out of his room (teenager)
My youngest yells mommie come here 2,000 times a day

My oldest has autism, my youngest ADHD and I would not trade either of them for the world, universe, stars etc.,

I got what I dreamed of all my life--two of the sweetest, funniest boys I could have ever dreamed up.  They not only fill my with joy.  They are my heart.

Something I have always had a hard time with is people saying, "I don't know how you do it."  That doesn't make any sense to me.  My wife and I waited 7 years to have a child.  We didn't put any stipulations on the choice.  We said, lets have a baby that will grow up to be a person and if it is a boy he can mow the yard.  It really wans't any more complicated than that.

Tina was put to bed rest with 12 weeks to go in her pregnancy.  I stayed home with her and took care of her.  Fortunately I am in a position where that wasn't difficult.  Amanda came 6 weeks early and weighed 2 pounds.  She was in the hospital for 6 weeks and came home at less than 5 pounds.  She was our baby and we took care of her.  We've taken care of her since before she was born we will always do what we have to do for her.

We have been through the grieving process for the "normal" child we didn't have, but, we also have a joy that she is our child.  She is unique to the average world in many ways.  I call her my unicorn.  She helps me see the world in a new way.  She has shown me the kindness of strangers and the simplicity of life.

What it comes down to is I am her dad, it's not what I am, it's who I am.
I think the funniest thing recently was this... my son always asks for things by saying "more x please" or "more y please" (working on "i want x," but that's another story).

And, of course, he doesn't always pronounce the words correctly.

So, one day, when he wanted more crackers, he said: "More crack!"

We lost it. We could've used some more crack that day, too.

That's a scream!!  I love these stories!!

I enjoyed reading everyones post. Realy liked the "More Crack!" post (:
