I don't know if this is "tacky" but...I'd ask for gift cards, then you can get something that your daughter shows interest in. Either that, or just let the people surprise you - she may end up liking something that you wouldn't have thought of. My daughter has the weirdest birthday requests ever! Her favorite gift by FAR last year was one of those little pumpkins that you get at the grocery store. She kept that thing until after Christmas. This year she wants a vacuum of her own for her room. I'm like "ok" whatever makes her happy! She has so many sensory items that I don't feel we need any more at the moment. She is not into toys at all. She has plenty of movies and an arsenal of shows on her tivo. So what do I tell people do get her? She loves the excitement of opening the gifts but not to into the gifts afterwards. I just don't want people to spend too much money. Any suggestions?
I have the same problem with Skylar, but here are some suggestions that worked for him.

I know with my son, there are so few toys that he will have anything to do with. He is a video game and computer child. Last year he got the V-smile with the joystick and the art studio and a bunch of different game cartridges and that child would sit and play and draw on the art board for hours. And thats not easy to do when he is severely adhd on top of the HFA. He has most of these items and they have been awesome for him, because its not really considered a toy, and they can learn so much from the games and stuff that go with it.
I hope some of this helped. Good luck!
I couldn't get those links to open....was it just my computer ??
My daughter is the same way....very little interest in toys....I usually tell people the practical stuff that we need. Clothes....change of season coming up....always need something...pretty tights, shoes....lunch box for school....play equipment...trampline, slide, the physical stuff is usually better my dd.
I hope she has a happy birthday !
Sarah loved colors, paints, blank paper, how to draw books, aqua dots.. crafty things:)
